During the night of June 23 to 24, 1875, a significant flooding of the Garonne occurs. Visiting devastated towns and villages, not knowing what to say, Patrice de Mac Mahon declared "So much water... so much water!..." The prefect of the department then replied: "And yet, Mr. President, you see only the surface…!”
I prefer the last photo because it's amazing how dry he can be by going out of the pool.
